Commuter Connection PA

Regional Rail

SEPTA has 13 regional rail lines that cover all 5 Pennsylvania counties in the greater Philadelphia region.  With 150 stations, the regional rail system moves over 120,000 people daily.  Norristown is serviced by the Norristown Line, which runs from the Norristown Elm Street Station, through Main Street Station and the Norristown Transportation Center to Suburban Station in Center City.  Southwest Philadelphia is served by the Airport Line, which runs from Center City and stops at Eastwick and the Philadelphia International Airport.

Bicycles are allowed on all regional rail lines during off-peak hours.  Peak hours run from 6:30 to 9:30 am and 3:30 to 6:30pm.  SEPTA prohibits bicycles during peak hours due to a lack of dedicated bicycle racks on either the old commuter rail cars or the new Silverliner V cars.  Multi-modal commuters traveling outside of those times should let other passengers board and/or disembark before boarding with their bicycle, should park their bicycle in the wheel chair accessible seating area, and must disembark if a person requiring the wheelchair accessible slot boards the train.  Many regional rail stations feature bicycle racks. Folding bicycles are allowed regional rail cars at all times, as long as they are fully folded prior to boarding.

Tickets for regional rail vary in price according to distance traveled.  Tickets may be bought on the train at full price, or purchased for a discount prior to boarding.  Tickets can be bought at some transit stations and at major Transportation Centers.  Not all regional rail stations have sales offices, and commuters should plan a head.  Monthly passes are available online, while day, week and month passes are available at SEPTA sales offices.  Below you will find links to routing information for trollies that will help you plan your daily commute.
