Commuter Connection PA

High-Speed Line

SEPTA only one High-Speed Line, the NHSL (Norristown High-Speed Line).  This unique form of light-rail accelerates up to 70 miles per hour, and is a quick way to get to and from Norristown. This line runs from the Norristown transportation Center through northwestern suburbs of Philadelphia to the 69th Street Transportation Center where it meets up with the MFL, and the 101/102 trolley lines – providing broad connectivity across the region.

The NHSL is uniquely bike friendly, as the unused cab (the train never turns around to it has one at each end) provides ample space for multiple bicycle and their riders to wait.  Riders need to communicate with drivers when bringing their bikes on or off (as the high acceleration and deceleration makes it difficult to travel up and down the isle with a bike), and all cyclists should be able to carry their bicycle as many stations are located below-grade.  Like every for of SEPTA rail, bicycles are limited to off-peak hours.  Peak hours run from 6:00 to 9:00 am and 3:00 to 6:00pm.  Folding bicycles are allowed on both the MFL and BSL at all times, as long as they are fully folded prior to boarding.

Rides can be purchase when boarding the train at an intermediate station, or on exit if point of origin is Norristown or 69th Station.  Monthly passes are available online, while day, week and month passes are available at SEPTA sales offices. Below you will find links to routing information for trollies that will help you plan your daily commute.
